Account & Company
Who TabTrade is, how the company is regulated, and how your funds are held.
Who is TabTrade and where is the company registered?
TabTrade (Mauritius) Ltd is incorporated and registered in Mauritius under company number 236339, with its office at Office 15, Floor 1, CentrePoint, Trianon, 72257, Mauritius. TabTrade Ltd is incorporated in Saint Lucia under the International Business Companies Act, registration number 2025-00919, at Ground Floor, The Sotheby Building, Rodney Village, Rodney Bay, Gros-Islet LC01 401, Saint Lucia.
Is TabTrade regulated?
TabTrade (Mauritius) Ltd is regulated by the Financial Services Commission, Mauritius (FSC) under licence number GB26206419. Which entity you contract with depends on your country of residence; the account opening flow tells you before you deposit.
How are client funds handled?
TabTrade maintains internal policies and procedures covering segregation of client funds, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (CFT) standards, and the secure handling of customer data. The specifics for your entity are set out in the legal documents you accept at account opening.
Which countries can open a TabTrade account?
TabTrade does not accept clients from certain restricted jurisdictions, including (but not limited to) Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Iran, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, regions on FATF or UN sanctions lists, and any jurisdiction where distribution or use would contravene local law. If you are unsure whether your country is eligible, ask the support desk before applying.
Who handles payments for TabTrade?
Insert Money Ltd (HE487167), a Cyprus-incorporated company, facilitates certain administrative and payment-related functions on behalf of TabTrade Ltd. Insert Money Ltd does not itself offer or provide financial, investment or payment services regulated under Cyprus or EU law.
Where do I find the legal documents?
The Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy and the rest of the legal pack are on the TabTrade Legal Documents page. Read them before you open an account; they define the contractual relationship, not this education hub.
Does TabTrade give financial advice?
No. Everything on this hub and in TabTrade marketing material is general information only. It does not take your objectives, financial situation or needs into account and is not a personal recommendation. Seek independent professional advice if you need it.
Account Types & Costs
Standard, Edge, Cent, VIP and Swap-Free compared, plus how spreads and commission are charged.
What account types does TabTrade offer?
There are two main cost structures across five account types. The Standard account is spread-only: FX, indices and metals carry no separate commission, and the dealing cost is built into the quote. The Edge account offers raw-style minimum spreads from 0.0 pips under qualifying market conditions and charges a fixed commission instead. The Cent account applies the Standard structure at 1/100 position sizing, with balances shown in US cents, for smaller live trades. The VIP account offers tailored conditions for professional and high-volume traders. A Swap-Free account is also available, with its own spread-based pricing.
What commission does the Edge account charge?
On MetaTrader 5, FX and metals trades on the Edge account pay $3.50 per side per lot rather than a flat fee per trade: one standard lot costs $7.00 round-turn, two lots $14.00, and so on. Standard, Cent and Swap-Free accounts pay no separate commission on FX, indices or metals. Cryptocurrency trades use percentage-based commission across account types, so check the current symbol specification for the rate and calculate the charge from the trade's notional value.
Which account is cheaper for me?
It depends on how much you trade and what you trade. Edge wins when the raw spread saving on your instrument exceeds the round-turn commission, typically on tight major pairs and higher volume. Standard is simpler and often cheaper on wider-spread instruments where commission is a larger share of the cost. The cost calculator on this hub does the arithmetic for a given size.
What is a Swap-Free account?
A Swap-Free account does not accrue the overnight financing adjustment that normally applies when a position is held past rollover. It uses a spread-based cost structure with no separate commission. Eligibility rules and any instrument exclusions are confirmed by the support desk when you request the conversion.
What leverage is available?
TabTrade offers leverage up to 1:1000 on many instruments. Caps vary by asset class: crypto CFDs are capped far lower than FX, and some commodities carry their own limit (aluminium, for example, is capped at 1:200). Higher leverage reduces the margin a position ties up; it does not change your pip value or your risk if you size correctly.
Can I hold more than one account?
Yes. Additional live accounts, including accounts on a different cost structure, are opened from the Secure Account Portal without a fresh application. Funds can be transferred between your own accounts there.
Is there a demo account?
Yes, and it is free. The TabTrade demo runs on live pricing, so spreads, swaps and slippage behave the way they do on a funded account; you are drilling the real mechanics, just with no money at risk. It is the right place to practise everything in the module library before funding.
How do I change my leverage?
Leverage is adjusted from the Secure Account Portal. Changing it alters the margin required on new and existing positions, so make the change when you are flat rather than while carrying open risk.
Deposits & Withdrawals
Funding your account, withdrawal requests, processing times and transfers.
How do I deposit funds?
Deposits are made from the Secure Account Portal under the funding section. The methods available to you depend on your country of residence and the entity you hold your account with, so the Secure Account Portal shows your own list rather than a global one.
How do I request a withdrawal?
Submit the request from the Secure Account Portal. Withdrawals are generally returned to the same method used to deposit, up to the amount deposited, which is a standard anti-money-laundering requirement rather than a TabTrade-specific rule.
How long do deposits and withdrawals take?
Processing time depends on the method and on when the request is submitted relative to the processing window. Card and e-wallet requests clear faster than bank transfers, which also depend on your own bank. The support desk can confirm the current timeframe for your method.
Can I transfer money between my TabTrade accounts?
Yes. Internal transfers between accounts held in your own name are made in the Secure Account Portal and do not go through the deposit process again.
Why was my withdrawal request held?
The usual reasons are incomplete verification, a mismatch between the withdrawal method and the deposit method, or open positions leaving insufficient free margin. The Secure Account Portal flags which one applies; support can release it once the underlying issue is resolved.
What does a deposit do to my margin?
A deposit raises your balance and therefore your equity and free margin immediately. If you are close to a margin call, depositing is one of the two ways out, the other being to reduce exposure. A deposit made to hold an oversized losing position funds the position rather than fixing it.
Secure Account Portal
Logging in, managing accounts, statements, passwords and account settings.
What can I do in the Secure Account Portal?
The Secure Account Portal is where you open additional accounts, deposit and withdraw, transfer between your own accounts, view transaction history, change your password and leverage, top up a demo account, download the platform, and upload verification documents.
I cannot log in to the Secure Account Portal.
Secure Account Portal credentials are separate from your MetaTrader 5 trading credentials; mixing the two is the most common cause. Use the password reset link if the email address is right and the password is not, and contact support if the reset email does not arrive.
How do I change my password?
Change the Secure Account Portal password in the account settings section. The MetaTrader 5 trading password is changed separately, either in the Secure Account Portal or inside the terminal under Tools → Options → Server.
How do I get an account statement?
Statements are generated in the Secure Account Portal, and MetaTrader 5 can also export one directly: right-click in the Account History tab and choose the report format you need. The MT5 export is the more detailed of the two for reviewing individual trades.
How do I update my address or personal details?
Submit the change in the Secure Account Portal. Address changes normally need a supporting document dated within the last three months, because the record has to stay accurate for compliance purposes.
Can I set up two-factor authentication?
Yes, enable it in the Secure Account Portal security settings. Turn it on before you fund the account, not after. It is the single highest-value thing you can do to protect it.
Verification & Compliance
Identity documents, account approval, corporate accounts and record keeping.
What documents do I need to verify my account?
Proof of identity (a government-issued photo ID) and proof of address (a utility bill or bank statement, usually dated within the last three months). Both are uploaded in the Secure Account Portal.
How long does verification take?
Clear, in-date, fully legible documents are processed fastest. Most delays come from a cropped corner, an expired ID or an address document that does not match the name on the application. Support will tell you exactly which document failed rather than making you guess.
Can I trade before verification is complete?
Use the demo account while verification is pending. It runs on live pricing, so nothing about the practice is wasted, and it means you are not waiting on paperwork to keep learning.
Can I open a corporate account?
Corporate applications need company registration documents, evidence of the directors and beneficial owners, and identity documents for each of them. Contact the support desk to start the process, as it is not a self-service flow.
Why is this information required at all?
TabTrade operates under Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism obligations that apply to every regulated broker. Verifying identity and source of funds is a legal requirement, not an optional step.
How is my personal data handled?
Handling of customer data is covered by the Privacy Policy in the TabTrade legal documents, alongside the internal policies covering secure data handling. Read the policy before submitting documents if you have specific concerns.
Trading Platforms
MetaTrader 5 on desktop, web and mobile: logins, downloads and setup.
Which platform does TabTrade use?
MetaTrader 5. It runs on Windows and macOS desktop, in the browser, and as a mobile app for iOS and Android. Your account works across all of them with the same credentials.
How do I log in to MetaTrader 5?
You need three things: your login number, your trading password, and the correct server name. All three are in the account confirmation email and in the Secure Account Portal. Choosing the wrong server is the most common reason a correct password is rejected.
Where do I download the platform?
From the downloads section of the Secure Account Portal, which serves the TabTrade build already pointed at the right servers. Downloading a generic MetaTrader 5 build works too, but you then have to add the server manually.
Can I use MetaTrader 5 on a Mac?
Yes. There is a macOS build, and the web terminal runs in any modern browser with no install at all. If you rely on a specific Expert Advisor, test it on the Mac build before committing to it; EA behaviour is where platform differences usually show up.
Can I trade from my phone?
Yes, and the mobile app is a full trading terminal, not a viewer. Set the default lot size deliberately before your first mobile trade; a mis-tapped decimal is the classic mobile mistake, and a 1.00 lot where you meant 0.10 is ten times the intended risk.
Can I log in to more than one account at once?
One MetaTrader 5 terminal holds one active connection, but you can install a second copy of the terminal in a separate folder, or use the mobile app for one account and the desktop terminal for another.
Does the platform support automated trading?
Yes. MetaTrader 5 supports fully automated trading through Expert Advisors. The Algorithmic Trading Basics module on this hub covers installation, the difference between backtest and live behaviour, and where automated strategies typically break.
How do I set a price alert?
In MetaTrader 5, right-click a level on the chart, or use the Alerts tab in the Toolbox panel. The mobile app can also push a notification when your account margin level drops below a threshold you choose, worth setting up once and forgetting about.
MetaTrader 5 Troubleshooting
Common platform errors and the fixes: missing symbols, failed orders, wrong times.
An instrument is missing from Market Watch.
Right-click inside Market Watch and choose "Show All", or open the Symbols window and enable the instrument from its asset-class folder. Market Watch hides most of the instrument list by default, so a missing symbol is almost never an account problem.
I get a "Trade Context Is Busy" error.
The terminal is already processing an order, usually one sent by an Expert Advisor. Wait for it to finish, disable Auto Trading briefly if an EA is looping, and retry. Restarting the terminal clears a stuck context.
Why do the chart times not match my local clock?
MetaTrader 5 charts are stamped in server time, not your time zone, and that offset is fixed; it does not follow your machine. Work out the offset once, note it, and read every candle and session boundary through it.
Where do I see the swap rate for an instrument?
Right-click the symbol in Market Watch and open Specification. The window lists the long and short swap, the contract size, the minimum and maximum volume, and the margin rate for that instrument.
My order was rejected or partially filled.
The usual causes are insufficient free margin, a volume below the minimum or above the maximum for that symbol, a stop level placed too close to the current price, or the instrument being outside its trading hours. The Journal tab records the exact reason for each rejection.
Why did I get a different price than I expected?
That is slippage: the gap between the expected fill and the actual one. It widens around news releases and in thin liquidity. Stop-losses are not guaranteed to fill at their level for the same reason: a stop becomes a market order once triggered.
My Expert Advisor is not trading.
Check that Auto Trading is enabled in the toolbar, that the EA shows a smiling face in the chart corner rather than a cross, that the EA is attached to the right symbol and timeframe, and that the Experts and Journal tabs are not logging an initialisation error.
How do I check my connection quality to the server?
The ping to the trade server is shown in the bottom-right corner of the terminal, next to the connection status. Consistently high ping is worth reporting to support, because it affects fills before it affects anything else.
Trading Conditions & Orders
Spreads, lots, margin, order types, rollover and how stop-outs work.
What is the spread and when do I pay it?
The spread is the gap between the bid and the ask, and you pay it the moment a position opens, which is why a new trade starts marginally negative. On the Edge account the spread is narrower and a fixed commission is charged instead.
What is the smallest position I can trade?
Micro lots are supported: 0.01 lots is 1,000 units of the base currency. That granularity is what makes correct position sizing possible on a small account, rather than forcing you into a size your stop distance cannot justify.
What order types are available?
Market orders, buy and sell limits, buy and sell stops, stop-limit orders, and trailing stops. Stop-losses and take-profits can be attached at entry or added to a live position afterwards.
How is margin calculated?
Margin is the notional value of the position divided by your account leverage. One mini lot of EURUSD (10,000 units) at 1:500 leverage requires 10,000 ÷ 500 = 20 units of the base currency. MetaTrader 5 shows the exact figure at the bottom of the order window before you confirm.
What is a margin call and a stop-out?
Your margin level is equity divided by used margin. Fall below the margin call level and you are warned to deposit or reduce exposure; fall below the stop-out level and the platform begins closing positions automatically, worst-performing first. A stop-out means the market chose your exit instead of you, which is a sizing problem, not a platform problem.
What is swap and when is it charged?
A Swap is the overnight financing adjustment applied to positions held past rollover at 5:00 PM New York time, which is 22:00 UTC outside of US daylight saving and 21:00 UTC during US daylight saving. It is based on the holding cost of the asset, such as due to interest rate differentials in a currency pair. It can be a credit or a debit. On a Swap-Free account it stays at zero.
Why was I charged triple swap?
Weekend financing is booked on a single weekday (conventionally Wednesday for FX), so one rollover carries three days of swap. If you routinely hold positions across that day, price it into the trade rather than treating it as a surprise.
Are hedging and scalping allowed?
Yes to both. Margin treatment for a direct hedge depends on the account, symbol and broker hedged-margin setting. Check the order preview and current symbol specification before placing it. You also pay the spread on entry and exit of the hedging leg, plus any applicable swap if it stays open past rollover. The Hedging Strategies module works through when that cost is justified.
How long can I keep a position open?
Indefinitely on spot instruments, subject to swap accruing each night and to maintaining sufficient margin. Futures-based CFDs are the exception: they roll or expire on a set schedule.
Markets & Instruments
What you can trade, trading hours, expiries, dividends and market-specific rules.
What can I trade with TabTrade?
TabTrade lists 1,173 CFD instruments in total, spanning 81 forex pairs from major pairs to exotic pairs, 14 commodities including gold, plus indices, shares and crypto CFDs.
When are the markets open?
Forex runs 24 hours a day, five days a week, opening with New Zealand on Monday morning (5pm New York time on Sunday) and closing with New York on Friday. Every other asset class follows its underlying exchange. Check the symbol Specification window in MetaTrader 5 for the exact session of any instrument, since hours also shift with daylight saving.
What are the trading hours for gold and silver?
Metals trade almost around the clock on weekdays with a short daily break at rollover. Because the break lands near the swap charge, holding through it is when overnight financing shows up on the position.
Can I trade cryptocurrency at the weekend?
Crypto CFDs trade seven days a week, unlike the rest of the instrument list. Leverage on crypto is capped far below FX because of the volatility: at TabTrade it runs up to 1:20 on majors such as bitcoin and ether, and 1:10 on most other coins.
What happens to a futures-based CFD at expiry?
The contract rolls to the next delivery month and a cash adjustment is applied so the roll itself does not create a profit or loss. The Commodities & Gold module covers the traps around roll dates in detail.
What happens to a share CFD when the stock pays a dividend?
A dividend adjustment is applied on the ex-dividend date: credited on long positions, debited on short ones. It reflects the price drop in the underlying, so it is not free income.
What is a gap and why does it matter?
A gap is a jump between one candle’s close and the next candle’s open with no trading in between, most commonly at the Monday open or around major news. Stop-losses fill at the next available price after a gap, not at the level you set, which is why gap risk is sizing risk.
Where do I find the contract specification for an instrument?
Right-click the symbol in Market Watch and choose Specification. It shows contract size, minimum and maximum volume, tick value, margin rate, swap rates and trading sessions; read it before your first trade on any new instrument.
Education Hub
How to use this site: modules, learning paths, calculators and the glossary.
Do I need a funded account to use the education hub?
No. Every module, calculator and glossary entry is open. A demo account is free and takes about a minute to open if you want to practise alongside the material.
What order should I work through the modules in?
Start with the Forex Foundations path. It is ordered deliberately: terminology and risk management come before strategy, because strategy without sizing rules does not survive contact with the market.
How often is the content updated?
Modules are reviewed quarterly and after any material change to platform behaviour or regulation. The last-updated date appears at the top of every module.
What are the calculators for?
They do the arithmetic you would otherwise do badly in your head mid-trade: position size from account risk and stop distance, margin required, pip value, and the cost difference between the Standard and Edge structures for a given trade.
Do you provide trade signals or advice?
No. Everything here is general educational information. It does not take your objectives, financial situation or needs into account, and it is not a personal recommendation.
I do not understand a term used in a module.
Check the Glossary; it defines every term the modules use, in plain English, and the quick-lookup drawer in the right-hand rail searches it without leaving the page you are on.
Still need a hand?
The support desk is available seven days a week and can see your account, which the answers above cannot. For anything account-specific, go straight to them rather than working from a general article.
