VPS stands for virtual private server. It is a cloud-based server with its own operating system and remote desktop access.

For trading, a VPS can host your platform 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is useful if you run Expert Advisors, automated strategies, or copy trading tools that need a constant connection.

  1. Choose a VPS provider that supports trading platforms and has server locations close to your preferred execution infrastructure.
  2. Install or open Remote Desktop Connection on Windows, or a compatible remote desktop app on macOS.
  3. Enter the IP address, username, and password provided by the VPS company.
  4. Open a browser inside the VPS.
  5. Download the official MetaTrader 5 or cTrader installer from your TabTrade Secure Account Portal.
  6. Install the platform on the VPS.
  7. Log in with your trading account credentials.
  8. Add your Expert Advisors, indicators, or copy trading tools.
  9. Leave the platform running on the VPS.

You can close the remote desktop window on your personal computer. The platform should continue running on the server.

Practical safety checks

  • Use a strong password for VPS access.
  • Keep a record of provider login details and renewal dates.
  • Test automated strategies on demo before using them on a live account.
  • Monitor the VPS regularly to confirm the platform is still connected.
